The change to the Kurzick/Luxon track is the clearest rationale I've seen that future titles will be based on that type of progression rather than Sunspear. You could get to r8 easily in Sunspear before the PvE-only skill update. However, ArenaNet revamped the Kurzick/Luxon title track while keeping the grind. That clearly lists ArenaNet's agenda; I do not believe that the designers looked at the Allegience title track and said "Oh, no grind here!"

Aye, I agree on that point. (BTW, I'm a B on your list of GW fanboys.) I think they threw the number 18 to make it sound impressive. We know not all the Dungeons will be enclosed concrete walls. I suspect it will (hopefully) be like Prophecy - wandering around similar surroundings, until WHAM. You hit a huge area with majestic waterfalls and amazing architecture and are blown away. That's what I'm hoping for anyway. I really want to be able to explore the Dungeons at my pace.

That means: Lots of outposts. Nothing will piss me off more than if I have to restart a huge dungeon from the very beginning because my child needs me.

Not an insane amount of Mobs. One of my worse fears will be large amounts of mobs with no ability to dodge patrols. Sometimes, I just need to get to the next area ASAP, and plan to explore later.

I agree with Prophecy being the best, although I'm not going to judge GW2 on the merits of GWEN. I will buy GW2 on the merits of GW2. If it's fun, I think I'll actually enjoy "starting over."

Guild Wars has lost its luster since April of 05. Period.
I agree completely, and I think you have nailed the GW market right there. ANet has made the smart business decision and focused on the massive casual pve/pvp players. The hardcore pvp market is not enough to support the company. In an ideal world, of course, they would be successful at both, but I think Anet has realized that GW has reached its maximum potential--a great game, but w/ some limitations and flaws. They will be trying to solve many of the problems with GW2, and best of luck to them. Meanwhile, enjoy GW:EN, other great games that will come out (like Star Craft 2), and rl.

Nothing to add, i don't like some updates and some other stuff, but there is nothing major that makes me want to quit gw.

so then msecorsky, let me ask you, what is it that keeps you interested in the game? Have you beaten all 3 chapters with all your characters? just wondering, I have gotten bored after playing this game for 2+ years

Yep, I'm totally having fun with GW right now. I had fun with Factions and NF, so I'm looking forward to GWEN. I guess I'm different than some of the people on this forum, who are speculating what the future of GW is gonna be, and then complaining about that. I'm personally content with all these past updates and Arena Net. If my "OMG PWNAGE" build got nerfed, I'll just make another one. After all, GW is sorta like a card game. When they began banning people for spamming trades in local chat, I thought it was awesome. I didn't think Arena Net was playing "big brother" and taking away too much freedom, like some people thought. And sure, leechers and leavers suck, but it near impossible to address these issues. I think most of these "nerfs" that Arena Net do are really just balance in the game, and for most part they are justified. I do agree, some of the nerfs are a little too far, but for now, I'm just gonna try something else and wait for that balance to be readjusted. And separate PVE and PVP? No thanks. GW is a PvE/PvP game, and Arena Net never intended to separate them. If people don't like Arena Net's actions lately, well, be prepared to be disappointed with GW:EN. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I don't know where to begin, but I think a good place is to put an "i think" in front of every statement you make.
Your assumptions are just that. I don't think GW needs any "renewing" an is much better than it started.

so basically you're saying we should never have PvE skills because people will have the option to use only PvE skills?

Well, you did point out it was an opinion, so thanks good! I don't think GW needs any fixing other than trade issues. I feel Anet has added WAY more good features to the game than they have created problems. And the problems are hardly crippling.

This is so bogus. How bout I put you into the:
a) "Can't comprehend anyone thinking differently from you so you try to berate everyone with opposing viewpoints."

Every game looses it's luster because humans get tired of things period. It's a game, different people like different things.

To each his own.

Grinding anything in a game doesn't impress or captivate me at all. The new things to do and new places to see is more my cup of tea.

At this point in time it's the challenge of vanquishing with my first mesmer. Before hard mode I didn't realize how crappy my builds actually were for my heroes. You can get through normal mode with just about anything... hard mode is a different story. It's nice though, vanquishing... like seeing areas again for the first time, and more completely. For example, in Gyala Hatchery (explorable) there's a quarry area that features in the center this huge clear block of jadeite with a massive jellyfish type creature in it. Very nice. When I have limited time, I pop in ABs with my PvP mesmer for a quick release luring assassins and warriors to their deaths. Ah, Illusion is fun.

I haven't beaten all chapters with all characters. Each chapter got a new character (assassin for Factions, mesmer for Nightfall) that went all the way through (doing every quest and mission I could find), then I'd take mesmer #1 through. Some classes just don't appeal to me... warriors for example... so there's a few that pretty much hang idle while I mesmerize the world.

Will GW:EN bring back PvPers? No
Will GW:EN hold over PvErs through GW2? No
Will GW:EN provide a period of activity among some MIA players? Of course.

GW:EN will spread people out more than they already are, while adding additional heroes to allow for the eventual population drop. People will get through the story, but PvE skills based on more titles (Gaile said it somewhere) is only going to turn people off to the game.

GW has been slowly sliding downhill since it went from Beta to release. A PvE-oriented expansion isn't going to save it.

I think you are at the central issue, Zinger. If EotN is more grind, then what a waste of a fantastic game. I do not know what else to say - each game is always graphically beautiful, the voice acting is awful, and the roller coaster of nerfs and buffs will continue. It all comes down to grind. It is a huge turnoff to me, and to a large segment of the community that is continually leeching or quitting in AB. (sigh)

Keep up the new threads, BTW. At least you are making these lazy fanbois think.

Thanks!

EotN is going to be the last addition of Guild Wars, and it will keep most satisfied at best for about a 6 month to a year (by itself no updates included). The reason I think this is that it will be a big addition to GW, is because the team has been working on this more then a year now. The more time they have had the more astounding this expansion will be.

The huge thing is that no one has to start over again from the very get go, and can continue on to anywhere in EotN they desire (exception the final act). There will be no gates or doors blocking your progress from the looks of things. If it’s less linear people will have so much more fun then they ever did. Even the story looks to have added another layer of detail.

Yes the only thing I worry about is the grind for these new PvE skills. However if the grind is kept to a low minimum and the skills are well worth it themselves; I will have no problem with it.

i will take a shot at this as well since i seem to be tagged as an A+ card carrying fanboi even though i called factions a wart on GWs a

i have several accounts with slot added and lots of different characters / professions. starting from the start.

i still have less than 2000 hours total time.

the only goal i have is to have fun doing whatever i feel like with whatever character i choose at that time.

i do not force myself to play for any other goal than that.
i dont buy

KEYS
UNNEEDED SKILLS
EXTRAS

as a result i can buy that Nightfall 15k armor for my favorite characters because i like the looks not that i have to because my friends would look down on anything less.

my heroes get hand me downs as i dont have to pimp them to keep up with the other players.

as for being bored and still playing i am not such a stupid idiot to do that.

i have seen several threads saying i have done everything and i am bored sick.

how can someone be so stupid?

read book
take a break
play another game
visit a RL friend
if the only/best thing you have is a game you are bored with i pity you.

if you are bored and bitch well............pathetic

Everyone here is worlds greatest game developer, and has a perfect understanding of how well the game is actually doing.. So it makes sense that the minidevs here know the game is going downhill.. I mean..Gaile may have told us the # of players may be going up, but I sure she's lying.
